We're Looking for Senior Software Engineers

Target total compensation ranges from $300,000 - $435,000, made up of a fixed annual salary of $200,000 - $285,000 (including superannuation), and employee equity plan grant . In addition, you will receive world-class employee benefits.

About the Roles

Instead of siloed technology specialists, Rokt looks to hire ‘T-Shape’ software engineers. Diversely skilled, technology agnostic coders who are interested in working across the stack. 

We are currently looking for several talented Senior Software Engineers to join our Core Platform team. These roles will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the scalable services that power Rokt’s ecommerce platform - and over 6 billion transactions per year! 

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve code that solves real-world problems with scalable services which deal with ultra high-throughput.
• Consistently research and leverage AI tooling/LLMs to automate manual processes, accelerate learning, and enhance developer productivity
• Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables, owning and operating with autonomy in solving problems.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills, a passion for technology, and a desire to work on deep and interesting technical problems. 
  

Projects you may work on:

• Building a massive open-source data storage and ingestion platform to support the entire Rokt ecosystem, scaling complex data systems built on open-source technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, Iceberg, and Trino.
• Designing, implementing, and optimising machine learning infrastructure supporting all of Rokt’s ML initiatives - collaborating with data scientists and engineers to support efficient data access, model management, and deployment.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services, APIs and the front end SDKs that consume them to power Rokt’s web and mobile applications.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive anomaly detection monitoring systems across the Rokt network.
• Refining and optimising Rokt’s Web and Mobile SDK, delivering seamless integration and user experience with first-class performance, security, scalability, and efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of experience in commercial software development, designing, building, and operating distributed systems.
• Solid experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Scala, TypeScript, Python, C#, Java, Rust).
• Specialist knowledge in one or more of the following: Web Front-end, scalable APIs, Data Engineering, Data Science, ML-Ops, SRE, or high-throughput/low latency  Distributed Systems
• Experience working with cloud-based applications, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization & orchestration tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Ability to build, test deploy and maintain your own code in production - own your work, always keeping the customer at the forefront.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues, optimise performance, and implement and maintain scalable solutions.
• Ability to turn ambiguity into clarity, and be comfortable treading new ground.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document technical designs, and present ideas clearly.
• At Rokt we encourage autonomy; teams have complete ownership of their systems including building, running and monitoring. As such, you may be required to be on-call and respond to system alerts should they arise.
