Job Description

On behalf of CUBIC, a Rockwell Automation Company, we are looking for a Sr. Hardware Development Engineer to design electro-mechanical enclosure systems for the electrical industry.

You will be part of and collaborate with an experienced team of colleagues, implement new product development projects and work with our customers on the development of high-quality technical solutions.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work with development tasks that have been selected based on an overall strategy, where an idea proposal is the basis for your project and you own product specifications.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design electro-mechanical enclosure systems for the electrical industry
  • Review and further development of CUBIC's existing product portfolio
  • Develop products using required development processes and process improvements
  • Design solutions for specific projects or market segments in collaboration with Product and Business Management and our customers
  • Prototype validation testing and product qualification testing experience with respect to schedule and problem resolution for assigned programs.
  • Cooperation with international standardization and approval bodies, including IEC and UL
  • Assist manufacturing in the resolution of test and manufacturing issues for products, and to assist field service in the resolution of field application issues with respect to product performance and system design
  • Must complete design and implementation documentation as specified by the Common Development Processes

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of related experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., PTC Creo / Pro‑Engineer)
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems and circuit protection
  • Basic knowledge of Engineering materials, including sheet metal, copper, and engineering polymers

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • M.S. Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated application of Design for Six Sigma principles with Greenbelt certification or higher
  • Working knowledge of UL and IEC standards applicable to Low Voltage Switchgear and Control gear
  • Knowledge in thermal system analysis with focus on heat transfer and cooling
  • Familiarity with design and analysis for shock and vibration requirements.
  • Knowledge in processes for injection molding, metal fabrication, material science and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with Competitive Analysis exercises to determine new product requirements.
