Director of Product, Private Cloud Platform

We’re building a cloud for the metaverse here at Roblox. Our engineers use this cloud to build Roblox itself. Like a public cloud, our private cloud provides Compute, Network, and Storage services to engineers at Roblox. What sets our cloud apart from others, is that the particular set of Compute, Network, and Storage services are tailored to the unique needs of the metaverse. Reporting to the Senior Director, Product Infrastructure, you’ll oversee the core of this experience; both how Roblox engineers program against our private cloud, and how Roblox’s platform teams deliver new shared services to the rest of our Engineers. 

While the technologies here are familiar (we’re investing heavily in technologies like Kubernetes, Service Mesh, and distributed databases), the application at Roblox is unique. We operate at a massive scale, supporting more than 70 million daily active users and growing rapidly. Our private cloud is a substantial financial investment, and we are stewards over the core economics of our business. And the metaverse is different from traditional workloads, leveraging cutting edge technologies like edge computing, real-time simulation, and machine learning. 

This is an opportunity to build a truly unique cloud platform at scale! 

You will: 

• Set the vision and strategy for the core of our private cloud platform that Roblox engineers use to build Roblox 

• Partner with Compute, Network, and Storage product teams to expose their products through our cloud platform, ensuring that the entire portfolio works consistently for our users 

• Define the tools, services, APIs, and CLIs that Roblox engineers use every day to build Roblox 

• Be the champion and evangelist  for our unique approach to private cloud within and outside the company 

• Report to the head of infrastructure product management 

You have: 

• At least 12 years of product management experience with at least 5 years delivering infrastructure, developer, or operations tools 

• Experience building infrastructure platforms at scale, as an infrastructure vendor, a cloud provider, or at internal platform teams in large SaaS organizations 

• Experience managing large, technically complex engineering programs that may take years to execute 

• Deep familiarity with modern cloud computing products including virtualization, containers, serverless, but with enough curiosity to wonder what’s the next big invention that should be added to that list.
