Product Owner Service Management

Location: The Netherlands, Rotterdam

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

Department

Within Robeco Technology, the IT4IT team manages platforms that support how IT operates, with focus on Service Management, Observability, and Enterprise Architecture Technologies. We ensure that these areas work together so IT can be reliable, transparent, and is able to improve.

For the IT4IT Service Management sub-team, we’re looking for a Product Owner to help shape the vision and roadmap, and drive how platform products evolve and are brought together into end‑to‑end services.

The team already plays a central role in how these foundations operate and is currently transitioning to enable more end-to-end services. This creates an environment with real scope to take initiative, collaborate across teams, and actively shape how things evolve in practice.

Position & Requirements

What the role looks like

The work sits in the middle of how IT Service Management actually runs and there is no fixed rhythm to this role.

You start by understanding where things break down. Requests don’t move cleanly, ownership is unclear, changes happen without the full impact being understood, or teams work around the system instead of with it. You go to the teams involved, look at how things work in reality, and make those gaps explicit.

You turn that into direction. You decide what needs attention now, what can wait, and what needs to be fixed at the root. You keep the backlog focused on work that improves how services are delivered and supported end to end.

You work closely with engineers on the platform. You clarify what needs to be built, keep scope tight, and make sure what gets delivered is usable for the teams that depend on it. You stay with work until it actually changes how things run, working with the team to make sure improvements become ingrained and don’t fall back into old patterns.

You don’t do this alone. You work closely with the team manager, other Product Owners, the Solution Architect and Agile Coach to align priorities, challenge assumptions, and keep direction consistent. This is also apparent during PI planning, where you work with other Product Owners across Technology to align on priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs across teams, and make sure plans hold up beyond a single team or sprint.

At the same time, you work across multiple products within Service Management. The goal is not to optimize each product separately, but to bring them together into services that work as one from request to resolution and from change to impact.

You spend time aligning with stakeholders, architects, and other teams. That work is not about collecting input, but about making decisions and setting direction when priorities compete.

You show progress through measurable outcomes. Work becomes easier to follow, ownership becomes clearer, and less time is spent fixing what should have worked in the first place.

This is a place where you can see the effect of your work directly, not just in delivered features, but in how services improve and how teams start working differently because of it.

Your profile

You have around 3–5 years of experience in a Product Owner role or a similar position where you worked across teams in an IT environment.

Experience with service management and/or is a plus, as it can help you get up to speed faster in this space.

You are comfortable working with different stakeholders and dealing with situations where priorities compete and not everything is clearly defined.

Most importantly, you are eager to grow into a broader role and willing to step into complexity and take ownership as you learn.

Please note that EU/ EEA work authorization is required (no visa sponsorship)

Applications must include a motivation letter

All applications will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. An assessment and integrity test may be used in the selection procedure.
