About the Role

As a Platform Developer at Riskified’s infrastructure group, you will be part of a team of talented developers, working in a truly Agile environment where code is deployed several times a day and utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
Platform Developers manage the developer toolchain to maximize productivity and drive down development cycle time. You will work closely with developers to understand their needs, produce tools that suit the requirements, and troubleshoot issues. Our Engineering teams are growing very quickly, so solid tooling and a smooth developer experience are critical to support this growth. This role is best for curious, generalist programmers with a strong customer service orientation and interests in developer tooling and documentation. We are a small, focused, and rapidly growing team with an abundance of growth and impact opportunities.
There will be many new and unexpected problems, and we need someone who can do the required research/networking to propose well-thought-out solutions.
We write many of our own tools and remain nimble by putting automation and software at the forefront of everything we do. We primarily use Golang, but the specific language(s) you're comfortable with are less important than a desire to solve problems with code.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop a vision for Developer Experience at Riskified. This is a new area of emphasis, so it presents an exciting opportunity to scope what a highly functional Developer Experience program looks like.
• Help build our Developer Platform, for use by a large number of development teams.
• Design and implement easy-to-use tools and reusable components. Improve developer velocity and reduce boilerplate, set standards, and define best practices.
• Work closely with the other members of the Infrastructure team on a variety of initiatives. Developer Experience Engineers will share some responsibilities with DevOps Engineers.
• Identify opportunities for reducing developer friction and execute on them.
• Work across Engineering teams to enhance, document, and establish processes and generally improve development practices.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures
• At least 3 years of programming experience or the ability to demonstrate strong programming proficiency. Proficiency in NodeJS/Go - Advantage
• Experience with Build/Deploy/Continuous Integration tools
• Experience with API automation
• Experience with web automation (Playwright, Selenium)
• End-to-end skillset – able to own features from an idea stage, through design, architecture, coding, integration, and deployment
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Ability to think strategically, with the big picture in mind
• Team-oriented, communicative, and highly motivated with a can-do attitude
• An advantage to those who have proven experience with building automation framework for integration and e2e quality verification
