Staff Software Engineer, AI Platform

At Ridgeline, we’re seeking a Staff Engineer to join our AI Platform Team. This role will be pivotal in driving the development of scalable, high-performance, and high-quality AI solutions tailored to the investment management industry. With your expertise in LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation and AI Agents, you will solve complex challenges and launch differentiating products.

What will you do?

• Lead the design and development of AI systems to enhance Ridgeline’s core platform capabilities.
• Drive innovation in the application of LLMs and AI agents to real-world challenges in investment management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into our existing tech stack.
• Architect scalable AI workflows, ensuring efficiency and reliability in production environments.
• Evaluate and adopt state-of-the-art technologies to maintain Ridgeline’s leadership in the AI space.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
• Provide technical expertise in the selection of frameworks, tools, and methodologies for AI development.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement by staying at the forefront of AI research and applications.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience in building and deploying machine learning models, particularly LLMs.
• Proven expertise with AI agent frameworks and applications.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with cloud-based AI development, ideally AWS.
• A track record of delivering AI solutions in a production environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguous challenges.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Bonus

• Experience with Reinforcement Learning (RL) or Multi-Agent Systems.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in reputable AI journals.
• Familiarity with finance or investment management use cases for AI.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

The typical starting salary range for this role is: $165,000-$200,000. 

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $175,000-$212,500.

Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
