As a Staff Engineer on Ridgeline’s Reporting Experience team, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of reporting. You’ll drive the evolution of our Report Builder, a powerful tool used by both clients and internal teams to generate reports and fuel data-driven dashboards across various product areas. Your work will directly impact how we scale and optimize reporting, pushing the limits of flexibility, performance, and user experience. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll deliver solutions that redefine what’s possible in reporting, helping our platform continually innovate and lead the industry.

What will you do?
- Lead the architectural vision for projects, ensuring close collaboration between design, product, and engineering to align with broader company objectives. Your guidance will help implement scalable, efficient solutions that meet our goals.
- Stay hands-on with coding, demonstrating best practices and advancing modern front-end and backend technologies.
- Enhance the engineering team’s skills through coaching, pair programming, and leading by example, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape the product’s future, ensuring technical considerations are factored into decision-making.
- Promote a culture of innovation, quality, and accountability by implementing best practices in coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
- Think creatively, own problems, seek solutions, and communicate clearly along the way
- Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency
Desired Skills and Experience
- 10+ years in a software engineering position or similar function, with a history of designing and developing new products and using new technologies
- Deep understanding of JavaScript, CSS and other web technologies
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline
- Mastery of data structures, algorithms, state machines, and architectural patterns
- Experience working with relational databases and/or enterprise frameworks
- Understanding of building back-end infrastructure using AWS offerings such as Aurora, ECS, S3, and Lambdas
- Expertise in one or more of the following languages: Kotlin, Java, C#
- Willingness to learn about cutting-edge technologies while cultivating expertise in a business domain/problem space.
- An aptitude for problem solving
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and all audiences
- Serious interest in having fun at work

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
The typical starting salary range for this role is: $165,000 - $200,000
The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $175,000 - $212,500
Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
