Senior Wire Harness Engineer

Department: Hardware

Location: Mountain View

Compensation: $175K – $250K • Offers Equity

Employment Type: FullTime

At Rhoda AI, we’re building the next generation of generalist intelligent robots. We own the full robotics stack from high-performance hardware and robot systems to the infrastructure and state-of-the-art foundation world models that control our robots. Our robots are designed to be generalists capable of operating in complex, real-world environments and handling long-tail edge cases, made possible by our cutting edge research and end-to-end system design. We've raised over $450M and are investing aggressively in model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing scale-up to make generalist robotics a reality.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Wire Harness Engineer to own the electrical interconnect of our robots end-to-end — from logical schematic to physical harness design to a part that survives in the real world. This role blends mechanical and electrical engineering: you'll define the logical/electrical connectivity between components, then design and model the physical harness in CATIA so it routes cleanly, withstands real-world environmental and mechanical loads, and can be built and serviced. You'll move fluidly between 2D logical/physical schematics and 3D CATIA design, and you'll be the connective tissue between Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to make sure the interconnect works as a system, not just on paper.

What You'll Do

  • Take end-to-end ownership of wire harness design, from logical/electrical interconnect definition through 3D physical routing and release.

  • Develop logical and physical harness schematics in a harness design tool (e.g., Zuken E3, Siemens Capital), defining connectors, pinouts, wire types/gauges, and routing intent.

  • Model harness geometry in CATIA 3D, routing around moving structures, actuators, and sensors while designing to withstand vibration, flex, thermal, and other environmental loads.

  • Partner with Electrical and Mechanical engineers on signal/power requirements, shielding, connector selection, and packaging/access for assembly and service.

  • Generate harness drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation, and support prototype builds and troubleshooting as issues surface in integration, test, or the field.

  • Work with Outside vendors to produce and test cable assemblies for complex designs that can not be made onsite.

  • Help track down any signal integrity issue caused by cables.

What We're Looking For

  • A mechanical or electrical engineering background (or related field) with 5+ years of hands-on experience designing wire harnesses for automotive, robotics, aerospace, or similar demanding environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across both the logical/electrical world (interconnect, schematics, pinouts) and the physical/mechanical world (3D routing, packaging, structural survivability).

  • Proficiency with a harness design tool such as Zuken E3 or Siemens Capital, and proficiency in CATIA for 3D harness modeling.

  • Solid understanding of environmental and mechanical load considerations affecting harness design — vibration, flex fatigue, thermal, abrasion, ingress protection.

  • Comfortable owning a design end-to-end, and strong collaboration/communication skills working as a peer across Electrical, Mechanical, Integration and Manufacturing teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with connector and wire selection for high-vibration or industrial robotic platforms.

  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC shielding practices and grounding/bonding strategy for harness design.

  • Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up as applied to harness routing and connector mounting.

  • Exposure to DFM/DFA for harness manufacturability and serviceability.

  • Experience supporting products in the field and turning harness-related field issues into durable design fixes.
