About the Role 

As a Systems Engineering Lead, you will deliver shared infrastructure operations solutions across our products. Working with your team, you will enhance current and future hosting capabilities. Your responsibilities include automating processes, optimizing performance, increasing availability, and migrating to cloud services. 

Responsibilities 

• Lead a team of Systems Engineers in developing optimal system configurations and plans for the installation and upgrade of various cloud, SaaS, and commercial off-the-shelf software for complex systems and applications. 

• Provide direction on project plans, schedules, and methodologies. 

• Promptly recover from and escalate issues using multiple system management and problem management tools. 

• Support direct reports in optimizing, automating, and supporting an array of system support tasks and projects centered around a core development tooling stack. 

• Maintain an advanced level of expertise among software development lifecycle applications and lead by example in all situations for systems and software development lifecycle. 

• Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for global technology teams within Elsevier. 

Requirements 

• 7+ years of Systems Engineering experience. 

• Experience in program installation and troubleshooting, including knowledge of cloud infrastructure environments. 

• Familiarity with storage on Linux Kernel, UNIX kernel, UNIX file systems, and Windows infrastructure. 

• Skills in scripting for automation and understanding of system and problem management tools. 

• Strong communication skills and the ability to achieve business objectives. 

• Problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating resources necessary for effective troubleshooting.
