We’re building a new team for an exciting new mission to modernise our existing application stack, powering one of LexisNexis IP’s flagship products, PatentSight+. This new team will take the existing monolithic application platform, redefine its architecture and break it down into smaller services. About the Role
 

We are looking for a Software Engineer Lead to lead both the team and work on modernising the application platform for a key product, PatentSight+. You’ll be leading a small highly skilled agile team, with ownership over the mission and your development practices and process.

Your engineering team will be UK based and you will work closely with existing application team, as well as with a broader range of stakeholders distributed across the UK, Germany, Netherlands and the USA.
 

Responsibilities
 

• Leading the team ,breaking down work, guiding and implementing the technical program.
• Working with the Product Manager, leading on design, breaking down and implementing a new features.
• Optimizing the team's strengths, upskilling team members, and ensuring that the team functions as a unit.
• Performing analysis and proposing refactors from the existing architecture, then leading the work to completion.
• Building AWS platform infrastructure, such as NodeJS/Python Lamda’s.
• Implementing Blue/Green orchestration strategies for database deployments
• Leading and participating in development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
• Operating in various development environments (Agile, Kanban, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Troubleshooting and resolving problems.

Requirements
 

• Possess skills to lead a team of developers, to inspire and build relationships. Provide technical and professional guidance to the team.
• Demonstrate extensive experience working with modern React frameworks, and it would be beneficial to have experience with NextJS, or other server side rendering experience.
• Demonstrate platform experience, especially around AWS Serverless, App Sync, Cloud Formation and microservice architectures.
• Possess extensive Software Engineering experience, especially working around large systems, refactoring and dealing with tech debt.
• Exposure to polyglot coding environment, such as C#, SQL, Python or JavaScript.
• Experience of collaborating with key stakeholders while operating in diverse development environments like Agile and Waterfall.
• Knowledge of continuous software delivery processes
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience.
