About the Role

As Director of Systems Engineering, you will take ownership of all aspects of technology and development. Working closely with peers and senior leaders, you will set the architectural standard for our teams. You will be leading in performing research, design, and development. This position is responsible for the oversight, strategic planning, and management of the company's infrastructure systems and operations. The role leads the infrastructure engineering team, setting architectural and process standards while providing day-to-day management and direction to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of infrastructure goals. This position drives the adoption of modern practices like Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including incident management, monitoring, and automation. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as finance,

development, security, and support, to align on infrastructure strategies and initiatives. The position oversees the migration and maintenance of mission-critical services and applications, implementing best practices and staying

up to date with emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure and systems engineering.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Systems Engineering 
  • Leading and developing teams.
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related technologies (e.g., containerization, serverless, infrastructure as code).
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, as well as mentoring and developing team members.
  • Expertise in cloud architecture, cloud migration, cloud security, and cloud automation.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices, such as continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, and containerization.
  • Monitoring and observability tools, as well as incident management and response processes.
  • Experience with Enterprise architecture, 24 x 7 operations, and multi-region experience.
  • Managing and maintaining on-prem and cloud-hosted services and applications.
  • Adopting and implementing SRE best practices.
  • Ability to communicate at an executive level.
  • Experience working with Agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies
  • Knowledge of process management, process streamlining, and process organization tools.
  • Proven ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete management responsibilities to include performance management, hiring, and coaching of staff.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams, such as development, security, and support teams, to align on infrastructure strategies and initiatives.• Demonstrate advanced understanding of best practices and emerging trends in systems engineering and cloud infrastructure.
  • Work with the team to iteratively improve practices and processes.
  • Interface with a variety of stakeholders to define requirements and project timelines.
  • Design Disaster Recovery Plan, setup, testing, and ongoing maintenance systems schedules.
  • Manage change management and incident response.
  • Work closely with development groups, support groups, and vendors to coordinate special operations, and communicate/escalate problems as appropriate to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Ensure all staff is provided with training and resources needed to perform their jobs to the most outstanding degree possible.
  • Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements through innovations.
  • Empower the staff to be accountable and responsible for their own actions and decisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
