Data Engineer III

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Own specific set or group of data transfers in various capacities including collection setup, data transfer setup, contributor/customer setup, etc. Interface with other technical personnel or team members to document, interpret, and finalize requirements. Produce code that is efficient, repeatable, without defects, and adherent to best practices such as naming conventions, encapsulation, etc. Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of data components. Complete data engineering bug fixes and issues, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate. Identify opportunities to apply automation or other tools to improve effectiveness or efficiency. Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into data engineering and/or data management designs. Innovate process improvements that enable efficient delivery and maintenance. Participate in the development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews. Oversee specific database management ensuring structure and dataflow adheres to department standards. Utilize various data workflow management and analysis tools. Good level of intimacy within a specific data content area. Participate in process improvement and compliance to successfully and consistently deliver high quality services on time, and to specification, resulting in flexibility to react quickly to changes in priorities or circumstances to meet business needs. Complete simple data engineering bug fixes and resolve technical issues as necessary. Work closely with other engineering team members to understand data and translate requirements. Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders. Participate in project reviews. Keep abreast of new technology developments. Perform other duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field required.
• 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required.

• Also required is:
  • 2 years of experience: in utilizing Informatica Power Center to execute ETL procedures, create mappings, sessions, and workflows for populating the data into dimension, fact, and lookup tables simultaneously from different source systems; in developing and maintaining ETL mapping to extract data from various source like Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Flat files and xml files; in SQL query performance tuning; performing requirement gathering for production releases, review of functional design and impact analysis, and planning of testing scenarios and preparation of test cases; implementing data warehouse/data mart development life cycle by utilizing ETL technologies, writing UNIX shell scripts for Informatica pre- and post-session operations; and utilizing SDLC methodologies, including waterfall and agile, for database development.
  • 1 year of experience: working with Database Applications, SQL and PL/SQL, Java, Web services and Rest Services; and in Java and T-SQL for developing web based forms with approvals workflow and creating notification alerts within the application.
• Employee reports to LexisNexis Risk Data Management LLC office in Washington, DC, but may telecommute from any location within the U.S.
• Experience can be concurrent.

SALARY RANGE:

• $100,000 to $114,700/year
