Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Process Wastewater Engineer:  

Redwood Materials is currently seeking a Process Wastewater Engineer to join our Infrastructure Development team. These roles are at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Execute engineering work on water projects including wastewater treatment, water treatment, advanced treatment, Zero Liquid Discharge, and pumping and conveyance 
  • Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various water and wastewater projects 
  • Prepare and stamp engineering drawings, calculations, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), specifications, and technical reports for a variety of internal projects. 
  • Ability to create custom water system designs for permitting, fabrication, and construction to support manufacturing and facilities. 
  • Ability to review shop drawings to ensure quality and accuracy prior to distribution, modify drawings as changes occur in the field, and expedite the updates to not impact construction schedule. 
  • Effectively communicate with project engineers, mechanical designers, in-house fabricators, installers, and other team members during the design and construction process. 
  • Design well thought out and cost-effective solutions fully coordinated with surrounding Architectural, Structural and MEP elements. 

Desired Qualifications 

  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering; M.S. degree preferred 
  • Experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents including drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical memoranda, etc. is required 
  • Minimum 6 years of similar experience required; 6-8 years of increasing responsibility in related experience preferred 
  • Professionally registered (Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil) engineer required; license must be current and in good standing 
  • Experience with industrial water treatment systems, including purification, reverse osmosis, filtration, liquid/solids separation, evaporation/crystallization, Zero Liquid Discharge 
  • Experience performing engineering calculations using computer software (Excel, Mathcad, etc.) is preferred 
  • Experience writing and editing equipment and piping specifications is preferred 

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
