Senior Mechanical Engineer — Argentina

Department: RedTree- LATAM

Location: Argentina

Employment Type: FullTime

About Redtree

Redtree Engineering, part of CSI's global network, specializes in engineering, project management, and construction support services for power systems, industrial facilities, mission-critical infrastructure, and complex energy projects.

We are seeking Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our Redtree LATAM team in Buenos Aires and lead mechanical engineering scope on thermal power generation projects for the U.S. market. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership on international projects, mentor developing engineers, and shape engineering solutions within a specialized technical team.

Position Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take technical ownership of mechanical engineering deliverables on thermal power generation facilities — including reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) plants, simple-cycle gas turbine plants, and combined-cycle power plants. You will provide technical direction across conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases, review the work of the discipline, and act as a technical point of reference for multidisciplinary teams working to U.S. project standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and take ownership of mechanical, process, or piping engineering scope on thermal power generation projects.

  • Define design criteria, calculation methodologies, and engineering standards for assigned scope.

  • Develop and review technical documentation, including datasheets, specifications, calculations, and equipment lists.

  • Lead the sizing and specification of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and balance-of-plant systems.

  • Direct P&ID development, heat and mass balance analysis, and hydraulic or thermal calculations.

  • Review deliverables produced by semi-senior and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Lead technical coordination and design reviews with clients, vendors, and other disciplines.

  • Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international codes, standards, and client specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial or energy projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: process engineering, mechanical engineering, or piping engineering.

  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and managing technical engineering documentation.

  • Advanced English, spoken and written — mandatory, as all project work is conducted in English.

  • Based in Buenos Aires or the surrounding metropolitan area.

Preferred Qualifications

We highly value candidates with experience in:

  • Power generation projects — thermal plants, combined-cycle facilities, or reciprocating engine plants.

  • Industrial plants across oil & gas, chemical, or process sectors.

  • Leading or coordinating engineering teams and technical disciplines.

  • Engineering and simulation software such as AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, Thermoflow, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or Navisworks.

  • U.S. codes and standards, including ASME, API, and NFPA.

  • Multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.

  • Strong organizational skills and clear technical communication.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead technical scope on high-impact international power generation projects for the U.S. market.

  • Membership in a specialized technical team with direct exposure to global engineering standards.

  • Mentorship and technical leadership opportunities within a growing organization.

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams that value innovation and technical excellence.

  • A collaborative culture and an excellent workplace environment.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits aligned with experience and qualifications.

Join Our Team

If you are passionate about power generation engineering, enjoy leading technical initiatives, and want to be part of projects that shape the future of energy infrastructure, we would love to hear from you.
