About the Job:

The Red Hat Ansible team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of our Ansible Team in Bangalore, India. As a seasoned professional, you will leverage your extensive front-end and full-stack expertise to build a robust, scalable, and intuitive platform that empowers enterprise users to consume automation effortlessly. This role is central to our strategy, focusing on modern web technologies like Javascript, React, Node.js, and Typescript. You will be joining a geographically dispersed team and will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment. While a foundational understanding of Python is a plus, your primary impact will be in delivering a world-class user experience and highly functional portal. What you will do?

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain the core components and features of the Ansible Self-Service Automation Portal using Javascript, React, Node.js, and Typescript

  • Collaborate with Product Management and UX/UI designers to translate high-level requirements and wireframes into technical specifications and deliver a superior user experience

  • Focus on performance, security, and scalability of the portal's frontend and backend services

  • Integrate the portal seamlessly with existing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform APIs and other internal services

  • Mentor junior engineers and champion engineering best practices, including code review standards, documentation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)

  • Participate in the full Agile development lifecycle, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release management

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, resolve customer escalations, and perform root cause analysis to continuously improve system reliability

  • Contribute to relevant open-source projects and engage with the community to ensure alignment with upstream innovation

  • Ensure all delivered code meets rigorous quality, security, and compliance standards for enterprise software


 

What you will bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on full-stack web application development

  • Expert-level proficiency in Javascript/Typescript and modern frameworks like React

  • Solid experience with backend development using Node.js and developing RESTful APIs

  • Demonstrated understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar

  • Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams

The following is considered a plus:

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages, particularly in an automation context

  • Familiarity with the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform ecosystem and related technologies

  • Experience with UI/UX design principles and tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch)

  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms and container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)

  • Experience designing and working with database systems (SQL or NoSQL)

  • A track record of contributing to open-source software projects

  • Experience in a customer-facing or community-interaction role

  • Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies for modern web applications (e.g., Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library)
