The Impact You’ll Make

As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll play a crucial part in a cutting-edge, cross-functional team focused on building, maintaining, and enhancing tools to aid our internal late-stage drug discovery and partnership drug discovery programs. Your work will have direct implications on our success by enabling us to visualize our data, validate our results, and pilot methods to advance and future-proof Recursion’s industrialized drug discovery process. You'll contribute to the evolution of our internal drug discovery programs, the delight of our partners, and the development of our one-of-a-kind data and capabilities. Moreover, you'll address the recurring challenges identified together with data scientists and computational biologists and increase our capacity to innovate, achieve ambitious goals, and scale our drug program support.

The Team You’ll Join 

You'll be part of a newly-formed team composed of computational biologists and engineers. This team is responsible for collaborating with both internal and external teams, ensuring the tools and analyses created will optimally impact delivery. This role provides the opportunity to work cross functionally to accelerate drug discovery by learning from, partnering with, and co-developing impactful tools and analyzes together with biologists, chemists, computational biologists, and data scientists. You will get the opportunity to substantially influence and innovate to deliver drug discovery programs at an industrial scale.

The Experience You’ll Need

• Experience programming professionally, in projects with significant ambiguity and technical complexity, ideally spanning multiple production systems and involving diverse technologies.
• Experience being resourceful and collaborative in order to complete large projects.
• A people-first mindset. We work closely with people from a wide variety of professional and academic disciplines and always prioritize supporting our coworkers in their growth and experience.
• Excitement to learn parts of our tech stack that you might not already know. Our current tech stack includes Python, Pandas, Prefect, TypeScript, and React. We work a lot with PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes, on cloud services provided by Google Cloud Platform.
• Solid computer science fundamentals, e.g. data structures, RESTful APIs, frontend development, etc
• A background in biology is not necessary, but intellectual curiosity is a must!

• Peer mentor will provide support and training during first 90 days to ensure quick ramp up
• Dedicated sessions to walkthrough services/systems that you will support
• 1 on 1 introductions with cross functional peers that you will partner closely with

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:

• Developing: £80,000
  Skilled: £88,000
  Expert: £98,000
