Department Overview
The EC Incubation Development Department (ECID) which this position belongs to has responsibilities of development and operation of various emerging EC services including Rakuma (flea market app), Rakuten hometown tax support, Rakuten Healthcare, Yoyakusuri(pharmacy reservations), med.(online medical care) etc.
Although each development group is independently contributing to each service, we regularly hold meetups which are events for information sharing across the group and have committee scheme which members gather based on their common interests for improving their skills.
This is the department you can feel both business growth and self-growth through contributing to the teamwork.
The Emerging Service Group develops and operates J.LEAGUE ONLINE STORE(https://store.jleague.jp/). This service is an EC site that customers purchase official goods of all J-League clubs and entry fan club membership, and has continues to grow since Rakuten renewed in 2017.
You can take charge of everything from front-end to back-end because it is a BtoC service which has the functions of "product purchasing, warehouse management, search function and product page, order, inventory, shipping and delivery to the customers". You will surely feel growth and worthwhile.

Position Details
- Lead members technically (review system design and code, break through technical issues and keep service stable)
- Catching up with new technologies
- Work closely with product managers and project managers to discuss backlog refinement and long-term development plans
- Understand business requirements and deliver functionality with high quality and speed
- System design, development, and testing
- Operations (releases, maintenance, monitoring troubleshooting, bug fixes)
- System improvement (refactoring, adoption of appropriate technology and architecture, system performance optimization with load testing, etc.)

Work Environment
We have 5 members of Engineering team and 2 members of Producing team. We are looking for engineer position of Engineering team.
There are various members in our group, from new graduates who have been in Rakuten for 10+ years to mid-career employees who have been for 2-3 years.
Java / php / JavaScript / Spring boot / CodeIgniter, AngularJS / Oracle / MySQL / Jenkins / memcached / Redis / Kibana / docker / Vue.js(plan)
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 3+ years' Web application development experience in Java
- 3+ years' Web application framework(ex. Spring, Struts) experience in Java
- 2+ years' experience and basic knowledge in Database (Oracle or MySQL)
- Design and review skills with system architecture knowledge
- Mind to catch up and propose new technologies and process
- Feeling rewarding to keep improving and maximizing team performance.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years' Web application framework(ex. CodeIgniter) experience in PHP
- 2+ years of project and team leadership experience
- Experience in the agile (Scrum, etc) development process
- Experience in test automation, CI
- Basic knowledge and experience about performance testing
- Web application for consumers experience
