Business Overview

Rakuten group has almost 100 million customers based in Japan and 1 billion globally as well, providing more than 70 services in a variety such as e-commerce, payment services, financial services, telecommunication, media, sports, etc.

At Rakuten, we have expanded our business scale by centering on our shopping mall business, "Rakuten Ichiba", and our credit card business, "Rakuten Card". As a result, we have grown to achieve a revenue of 800 billion Japanese yen and a domestic transaction volume of 8.8 trillion yen.

Looking ahead, Rakuten envisions creating a new business model that leverages the assets we have cultivated online, such as "Rakuten Members", "Rakuten Points", "Brand Power", "Member Data", “Payment” and "Rakuten Mobile". Department Overview

The business model of Rakuten Ichiba is BtoBtoC, and Client Stores, Society and Rakuten Group work together as a unity. Rakuten is an EC company that owns Japan's largest platform called Rakuten Ichiba. Rakuten Group's EC First Party Development Department (ECFD) cooperate and enlarge on the Rakuten Ichiba Platform. ECFD has several B-to-C businesses that will drive Rakuten business.

In the development of ECFD, we keep our eyes on the services along with the business, and we propose, develop, and verify the effectiveness of the services and systems from user experiences to operation management.

Position Details

We are on the lookout for competent and motivated Senior Product Manager to pioneer the evolution of retail industry systems based on the principle of product manager, which is Define and design products and services that delight customers and add strategic value to the company.

As a Service Owner, successful candidates will strive to deliver the highest value to customers and partners with passion and a clear vision. They will have the ability to see the big picture, remain flexible, and respond proactively in any situation.

- Identify User and Partner Needs: Conduct thorough user, market, and industry research, along with data analysis, to uncover issues, needs, and desires. Customers and partners may be within the Rakuten Group or external entities.

- Define Product Requirements: Develop comprehensive product requirement documents and functional specifications, proposing optimal solutions based on deep technical and operational insights.

- Track and Report KPIs: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product and report findings to stakeholders.

- Facilitate Collaboration: Coordinate and facilitate various meetings within the team, across groups, and with partners during the product design process to drive service improvements and product development.

- Develop Vision and Roadmaps: Create vision and product roadmaps aligned with the business strategy for the mid-to-long term.

 

Work Environment

The ECFD has just under 150 full-time employees. PDM has about 25, including both full-time employees and subcontractors.

Desired Qualifications:

- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or background in software engineering

- Experience in planning projects, requirement definitions and document creation for product requirements and functional specs

- Experience in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data of customers or business operations

- Proven experience in product management for E-commerce or retail industry systems (any of logistics, order management systems, payment systems, customer relationships management systems)

- Knowledge and passion of retail (Stores, Supermarket, drug stores) industry in each area (Fashion, Commodity, Medical)

- Experience in evangelize the product to industry, customers and partners
