Department Overview          

The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China and UK.

We develop and maintain the comprehensive advertisement platform that allows both internal stakeholders (Rakuten Ichiba merchants) and external advertisers (huge national and international clients) to freely manage their promotional mix and marketing campaigns. Working with us you will be able to learn everything about Rakuten Group's wide range of services and huge data asset.

We are seeking a talented and experienced QA Lead Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our software products through rigorous functional testing. This individual will work closely with the development team to understand requirements, develop test cases, and execute test scenarios to identify defects and ensure the software meets high-quality standards before release. 

Position:

Position Details

- Develop and execute test cases based on functional requirements.
- Conduct functional, regression, integration, System, UAT testing to identify software defects and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with the development team to ensure thorough testing coverage.
- Create test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test data for use during testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and enhance product quality.
- Identify, report, and track bugs to closure using bug tracking tools.
- Make suggestions/contributions for the improvement of software testing/quality.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and procedures.
- Partner with other QA engineers to create a unified approach and strategy for testing the various products across the team.
- Contribute in meetings, Scrums, and other inter-team interaction.

 

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or having worked as a Full-time QA Engineer for 5+ years.
- Minimum 5+ plus years software QA testing experience.

- Proven experience in functional testing of software applications.
- Have a Strong leadership skills and ability to negotiate with a team of engineers.
- Experience in API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Proficient in designing test plans, test scenarios, test cases etc.

- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management, supervisor peers, and end users.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to work independently.
- This is a very fast-paced environment with multiple projects in-flight, and as such has a strong requirement for multi-tasking skills.

 

Desired Qualifications:

- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, Agile SCRUM and test-driven development experience is a plus.
- Japanese language skills as some of the UI being tested would be in Japanese and targeting the Japanese business market.

- ISTQB certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with the concepts, methods, and tools of automation testing.
- Knowledge of automation tool/framework like Selenium, Cucumber.
- BDD are added advantage.

- Knowledge of performance testing is an added advantage.
