Department Overview

Our Media and Data Solutions Development Department (MDSD) value is to deliver superior User Experience via our Medias and build Solutions on the acquired Data for Marketing and GMS boost for internal and external business.

Position:

Position Details

・Manage people who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of a product or computer-based system from design to release for customers

・Develop, define and execute project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables. Identifies the resources needed for projects, defines and assigns major project roles

・Monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed

・Assign and monitor work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction

・This position typically does not have true responsibility over product development but does have overall product/program/project management responsibility, i.e. coordinating efforts leading to product release

・Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

・Direct people-management responsibility is typically required

・Oversee employees assigned to manage specific projects that have a distinct beginning and end

・Project Manager’s responsibilities in the Government/Defense arena may also include program acquisition as well as management, with a focus on satisfaction of government contractual specifications and requirements

・Accelerate business growth through high quality and innovative platform and leverage Rakuten group technology

・Drive programs/processes across Department(s) for strategic biz/tech growth in Rakuten scale

・Maximize productivity & quality by defining, standardizing and managing framework and process of programs

・Maximize technology investment's values through planning and management support of strategic programs

・Support projects to commence and progress in accordance to define governance framework and structure

・Provide timely insights and visualizations for project teams’ awareness on projects’ progress and health

・Work closely with project teams and related contributors to centralize information for management report creation to stakeholders

・Expected to add value to existing workflows for continuous improvement in project deliverables’ quality, cost efficiency, etc. and production support’s timeliness, effectiveness, etc. 

・Identify and highlight improvement points based on departmental KPIs and support product team in improvement plan creation and execution

Mandatory Qualifications:

・Over 5 years experience in Program management/Project management

・Problem Solving 

・Continuous Improvement 

・Collaboration 

・People Management 

・Deliverables Management 

Desired Qualifications:

・Project/Program management within a tech or product-driven organization

・2 to 3 years in a PMO, delivery governance, or technology delivery role

・Experience managing software development, infrastructure, or digital transformation projects

・Exposure to product lifecycle management and release planning

・Worked with engineering, data, or platform teams

 

・PM & collaboration tools: Jira, Confluence

・Reporting & dashboards: Domo

・Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, Kanban 

 

・Ability to bridge business and engineering conversations 

・Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments 

・Strong stakeholder management across product, tech, and business 

・Data-driven decision making
