With the strength of the Rakuten Point market, which has surpassed 3 trillion yen in total issuance, we are building the "Rakuten Economic Circle" through service collaboration with Rakuten Group companies and the introduction of cashless settlement services in real stores, which are growing at an accelerated pace. Our settlement services can be used at approximately 5 million online and offline locations, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and shopping malls nationwide, as well as at approximately 1 million locations where traffic-related e-money can be used, and the number of locations where this service can be used is continuing to expand.
This System Division handles everything from system service planning related to payment services, planning and implementation related to UI/UX, basic and detailed system design, coding, testing, and operation. As the service expands, you will be able to experience the planning, development, and operation of a very large-scale system. In addition, you will be able to improve our services by directly listening to the voices of our customers.

Position Details
Job Description
In order to ensure the stable operations of Rakuten Pay services, so that users and merchants can utilize our services with safety and confidence, we will ask you to work as a system engineer, conducting service operation and identifying improvements for service operation and maintenance. Service operation includes the necessary tasks to maintain service, such as service monitoring, trouble investigation and management, and regular operation. In order to carry out these operations, it is necessary to collaborate with other departments, such as those in charge of backend and mobile development and other service operations. As such this position requires a high level of communication skills.
While maintenance and operations may sound simple, Rakuten Pay's users, affiliated stores, and services continue to expand on a daily basis, and as such constant improvement to our platform is necessary to ensure a smooth continuity of high-level service. Many of our members come from abroad, so you will have the chance to improve your English communication skills as well.
Responsibilities
Management of service operations:
Arrange, negotiate each operation tasks from internals / externals (incl. resource managements)
Promotes activities for troubleshooting and improvement activities
Improvements of service operation tasks:
Make a plan and Promotion and Managements for improvements for service availability and mandatory task for service continuity
Discover issues, includes not only tangible but also potential, on our services and improvement activities.
*This is a potential Engineering Leader position for the Service Operations Group.
Mandatory Qualifications:
3+ years system maintenance and operation experience
3+ years experience developing backend applications
Team Leading experience (including project leading )
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with mission-critical services
Experience in developing and operating services with large-scale users
Experiences of BtoB services
Fintech domain knowledge (especially electronic payment services)
Experience using Atlassian collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
RDBMS, App Server knowledge and experience
Experience in improving operational efficiency
Experience in trouble shooting / managing improvements
