Job Description:

Department Overview 
Global Streaming Service Development Department (GSSD) operates Rakuten TV, NBA Rakuten, R-Channel, Rakuten Dragon via internet. It provides VOD and live distribution service for users to watch foreign films, animations, live stage performances, live music concerts by idols, singers, and live sports such as NBA and Pacific League. Also, we are just releasing linear streaming service like program distribution by TV. 
In the infrastructure group, we take responsibility for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of each system and support services that handle large-scale and high-traffic loads. We not only handle the operation of existing systems but also participate in the architecture design process of new projects, streamline operations, and improve performance, among other wide-ranging tasks.

As a result, we decided to welcome new infrastructure engineer with high skills and experience. We would like you to not only handle the operation of existing systems but also work on operational improvements through automation of infrastructure management and standardization of tasks. We especially welcome persons who has the motivation and skills to take on the role of a lead engineer or become candidates for it.
Position Details 
To support the growth of our services from an infrastructure perspective, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks. Some specific of these tasks are below: 

- Operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting related to container applications 

- Designing and proposing architectures for new projects 

- Planning and executing non-functional tests to anticipate large-scale loads or failures 

- Investigating and improving technical issues related to systems 

- Automating infrastructure construction and management with Terraform 

- Educating team members and managing their tasks 

- Standardizing tasks across systems 

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in operating large-scale systems using private and public clouds. By proposing and promoting solutions and improvements to problems, you can contribute to improving the quality of the systems. Multinational members work together and communicate mainly in English.

10 members (7 server engineers・3 distribution engineers)

Platform: Private Cloud, AWS, GCP 

OS: Debian, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Amazon Linux 

M/W: Apache, Nginx, ProxySQL 

DB: MariaDB, MySQL(Aurora, Cloud SQL), Redis(ElasticCache, Memorystore), DynamoDB, Elasticsearch  

Storage：Hadoop, S3, GCS 

Container: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) 

CDN: Akamai 

Deploy: Jenkins, Capistrano 

IaC: Chef, Terraform 

Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, PagerDuty, NewRelic, Kibana, CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Proficient in English 

- At least 5 years of experience in building and operating and monitoring infrastructure in BtoC systems 

- Experience in operating container applications on Kubernetes 

- Experience in building and operating Linux servers 

- At least 1 year of experience as lead engineer

Desired Qualifications:

- Proficient in Japanese 

- Fundamental knowledge of IT infrastructure such as database, network, security and so on  

- Experience in building or operating public cloud environments 

- Experience in infrastructure management with Terraform 

- Interest or practical experience in the approach of SRE
