Rakuten has more than 100 million users and provides some of the most popular Internet services in Japan today. Terabytes of data are generated every day, and are made available for internal services and business analysts.
In the merchandising and advertisement department we are responsible for company-wide business optimization platforms that use AI and data, including price and inventory management, operations planning, marketing and advertisement solutions.
As a Data Analyst in the merchandising AI section you will be contributing to the development and improvement of large scale AI solutions by creating reports for internal and external stakeholders, KPIs for performance monitoring, analyze A/B tests. You will use your analytical skills and to understand the business performance of our solutions, and identify and investigate improvement opportunities using data, analytical tools, and help drive the development and utilization of AI tools and agents for automating analysis. The role also includes aspects of project and product management, and you will help drive and organizing the continuous improvement processes required to improve our services.

In the Data Analyst role in our team you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on business performance to our clients, and lead the analysis and investigations in search of performance improvements, drive A/B test processes and service improvements. It requires the ability reveal trends and patterns through data analysis, creating compelling stories and presentation materials, and communicate the message well to our clients.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Completed B.S. or M.S. in, or student of, Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or similar degree in economics or business
- 2+ years of experience working with data analytics
- Highly motivated and able to learn quickly
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work with data to gain business insights
- Good communication skills and document and report creation
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with computer programming and working with data and visualization
- Good communication skill in English and Japanese
- Experience with project management methods
- Design and visual skills are highly appreciated, especially in data visualization area
