Department Overview
Media and Data Solutions Development Department (MDSD): We deliver superior User Experience via innovative and stable Internet Media products and build Data Solutions on the acquired Data for internal and external clients. MDSD supports around 20 products, such as Super Point Screen, Rekuten Web Search, Rakuten Kakeibo, Rakuten Insight. Our core competencies are industry-leading technical expertise and technical solution design capabilities.
Life Media Service Development Section offers a wide variety of services. Kakeibo, Infoseek, recipes, blogs, realestate, and other services that ensure contact with users and contribute to the Rakuten ecosystem.
We, Personal Finance Service Development Group, just released the first version of iOS app in April, 2024.
We are looking for members who will work together to create new service value.
Position:
Why We Hire
We plan to continuously add new features and improve existing functionalities of the Rakuten Kakeibo service. Additionally, as an Engineering Manager, you will address various challenges within the development organization and contribute to enhancing the service's value.
Position Details
- Identify and resolve various challenges within and outside the development organization.
- Plan and execute medium to long term strategies for the development organization and systems.
- Strengthen the development team structure and contribute to recruitment efforts.
- Define goals, conduct evaluations, and support the growth of engineers.
- Review technology selection, system architecture, and technical specifications.
- Lead teams and projects by utilizing your technical background.
Work Environment
Our team is very diverse, with members from various backgrounds.
English is the primary language of communication within the team.
The iOS team consists of 4 members, the Android team consits of 5 members, the backend team comprises 6 members, and the producer team consists of 3 members, with effective collaboration among these teams being essential for project success.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience in managing a development organization.
- Over 5 years of experience in developing web applications(Java / Kotlin / C# / Go).
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with team members in both Japanese and English.
- Experience in coaching, recruiting, and evaluating engineers.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in leading development teams and projects with technical expertise as a Tech Lead.
- Hands-on experience in product development in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Skilled in implementing and maintaining mobile applications.
- Proficient in setting up and maintaining CI/CD environments.
- Experience in designing secure applications.
- Experience in database design and performance tuning.
