The Marketplace business is the development of Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding business.

Department Overview

The Ichiba Advertising Department is responsible for the planning, sales promotion, operation, and management of advertising services used by merchants that open stores on Rakuten Ichiba and brands that sell products on Rakuten Ichiba.

Our mission is to provide effective and easy-to-use advertising products as marketing tools to improve sales on Rakuten Ichiba.

One of the strengths of Rakuten Ichiba's advertising is its unique delivery platform and measurement system, which enables us to measure everything from ad display, clicks, and conversions, and to optimize ad delivery using this data. This makes advertising not just a cost, but an investment with the potential for growth, and allows you to create a sales plan based on the effectiveness of your ads.

Our marketing team under Coupon section focus on "purchases at physical stores", which hold a large share in Japan, rather than the "EC domain" mainly targeted by Rakuten Ichiba. We provide user services such as Rakuten point back coupon. From the perspective of the entire Rakuten Group, we are committed to delivery OTOKU experience with "excitement" by utilizing Rakuten's internal and external touchpoints to promote "purchases at physical stores".

Why We Hire

The competition for points and coupons in "purchases at physical stores" is intensifying year by year. It is becoming increasingly important to provide as many users as possible with valuable experiences. Rakuten needs to expand its user base not only by utilizing user touchpoints through apps for each business such as Rakuten Ichiba, but also by collaborating with retailers to expand touchpoints at stores close to the purchasing timing. We are looking for a leader who can lead the user growth while involving various stakeholders, formulating strategies and tactics from a broad perspective and detailed data analysis.

Position Details

You will lead to brush up the strategy & plan for user growth of offline coupon and commit to execute the plan involving with Rakuten group assets.


Key responsibilities:

- Analysis of user behaviour by existing, dormant and new users

- Verification and improvement of STPs

- Structuring the in-flow from internal and external contact points

- Planning and execution of on-boarding and retention measures

- Service KPI analysis

- Involvement and coordination of internal and external stakeholders

Not only will you be responsible for policy formulation, but you will also perform practical work, including data analysis, while nurturing and leading the team.

After about 1-2 months of catch-up, you will be responsible for driving the entire team as a leader. Marketing initiatives are not completed only by the marketing members. We are very close to UX, product mgmt and system development. Therefore, you will be involved in the overall strategy and policy of the service.

Under the section, UX/Operation/Product teams.

Due to the small size of the group, we can communicate closely with each other.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Over 5 years of professional work experience

- Over 3 years of B2C Digital marketing experience
- Management Experience (small team is acceptable)

Desired Qualifications:

- Data analysis / Data extraction skill (SQL)

- Experience in new service / function planning & release

- Experience in system development as Business side

- English language communication skills
*English is not used frequently, but as some engineers live outside the country, it is easier to move around if you can communicate in English.
