Job Description
Seeking a highly qualified Senior Product / Systems Integration Engineer in the Huntsville, AL area supporting the Fixed Wing Project Office (Special Electronic Mission Aircraft [SEMA] Program) at Redstone Arsenal. The engineer will support and participate in the planning, managing, controlling, and coordinating of system and subsystem upgrades across the SEMA fleet, addressing modernization to meet worldwide avionics requirements, sensor upgrades, and equipment obsolescence.
Candidates should possess excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, as the candidate will work closely with Project Office leadership, interdisciplinary engineers, external vendors, and government agencies to ensure program success. The individual must be self-motivated with the ability to perform effectively both independently and within a team structure. Candidates must possess an active Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities
- Support and participate in the planning, managing, controlling, and coordinating of aircraft system and subsystem upgrades for the Special Electronic Mission Aircraft (SEMA) fleet.
- Identify project requirements, oversee modernization efforts, manage aircraft divestiture processes, develop project costs and schedules, and coordinate technical activities for selected fixed-wing platforms.
- Serve as the Technical Lead and represent the program's technical interests within Platform Working Groups, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), System Integration Laboratories (SIL), and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Coordinate technical activities across industry partners, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and independent government organizations to define requirements, develop capability assessments, evaluate test results, and prepare technical and budgetary packages for acquisition decision milestones.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for external vendors and subcontractors, navigating complex Army organizational structures to monitor technical execution and ensure hardware/software alignment with program requirements.
- Oversee system integration progress to ensure critical milestones are met and that vendor hardware and software remain fully compatible with the High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES) Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) architecture and broader Army architectures.
- Prepare and deliver executive briefings, analyses, findings, recommendations, and roadmaps to senior military leaders, project management, and industry working groups.
- Identify and address ongoing and future equipment obsolescence issues, formulating effective engineering solutions in collaboration with the Project Office.
Required Skills
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel across diverse military and contractor organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a primary technical liaison with external vendors and subcontractors across complex DoD/Army organizational structures.
- Proven presentation capabilities with experience briefing technical roadmaps, modular architecture benefits, and program status to senior military leadership and at industry conferences.
- Self-motivated work ethic with the ability to execute tasks independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Required Experience
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (BA/BS) degree in an engineering discipline (Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related engineering field).
- Minimum of 17 years of relevant engineering experience, including technical leadership, liaison roles, or systems engineering within DoD/aviation programs.
- Direct hands-on experience with the Aviation Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) concept and Common Pilot Equipment (CPE) / open system frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience managing the integration of complex avionics/sensor systems with a focus on MOSA architecture and standard frameworks (e.g., HADES).
- Proven background supporting flight/lab test evaluation, capability assessments, and the preparation of budgetary and technical documentation for acquisition decision events.
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science (MS) in an engineering or technical management discipline.
- Direct hands-on experience working in System Integration Laboratories (SIL) supporting fixed-wing or electronic mission aircraft.
- Familiarity with Army Airworthiness Release (AWR) processes, SRD-AW coordination, or FAA civil certification standards.
- Experience with open architecture standards such as FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) or VICTORY.
- Relevant certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP/ESEP) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
