About the Role

Rackspace Technology is looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, automate, and maintain our Microsoft Azure managed services platform. This role sits at the core of our Public Cloud Business Unit, supporting the tooling, automation, and infrastructure that allow Rackspace to deliver best-in-class managed Azure services to enterprise customers. You'll work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Security teams to design scalable automation and keep our Azure platform capabilities running reliably.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure problems with code, not just tickets.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain automation and tooling that supports Rackspace's Azure managed services platform
  • Develop and maintain scripts, modules, and pipelines primarily in Python and PowerShell to automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and remediation tasks
  • Build and support Infrastructure-as-Code deployments (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform) for repeatable, auditable environment builds
  • Integrate Azure platform tooling with monitoring, ticketing, and CI/CD systems to reduce manual operational work
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform-level issues across compute, networking, identity, and storage services in Azure
  • Contribute to platform reliability, security hardening, and cost-optimization initiatives
  • Document runbooks, architecture decisions, and operational procedures for internal teams
  • Stay current on Azure service updates and recommend platform improvements

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a platform engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, identity/Entra ID)
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tooling development
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, particularly for Azure and Windows Server administration/automation
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tooling and version control (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Git)
  • Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure issues under time pressure
