Platform/DevOps Engineer
Team: Infrastructure and Operations
Location: Budapest
Commitment: Fixed term
Workplace Type: remote
Responsibilities:
- Implement and deploy a self-hosted Renovate environment, including containers, workers, and job orchestration.
- Automate repository discovery and onboarding across tens of thousands of GitLab repositories using the GitLab API.
- Develop and maintain central, version-controlled Renovate configuration presets and enable repository-level customisation.
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and reporting dashboards covering repository coverage, update throughput, and error rates.
- Optimise system performance through parallelisation, caching, rate-limit management, and robust error handling.
- Integrate artifact and container registries with secure credential and secrets management solutions.
- Automate and streamline operational processes to ensure stable and reliable day-to-day operation.
- Prepare operational documentation and runbooks and provide technical support to development teams throughout the rollout.
- Support the phased rollout of the solution, from pilot implementation through to full-scale adoption.
Requirements:
- Solid professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of GitLab CI/CD and practical experience working with the GitLab API.
- Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code, such as OpenTofu and Helm.
- Good scripting or programming skills in Bash, Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
- Experience with monitoring and observability solutions, preferably New Relic.
- Knowledge of secrets management solutions such as Vault.
- Experience working with package and container registries.
- Practical experience with Renovate and automated dependency management.
- Strong automation mindset with a focus on scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to work independently in a structured and solution-oriented manner.
- Good English communication skills.

- Experience operating Renovate at large scale, particularly across thousands or tens of thousands of repositories.
- Experience designing highly scalable GitLab-based platform solutions.
- Experience with GitLab Runner, distributed workers, job scheduling, or similar orchestration solutions.
- Experience with GitLab API automation and large-scale repository onboarding.
- Knowledge of dependency management and software supply-chain security.
- Experience with CVE-driven security updates and automated vulnerability remediation.
- Experience with additional secrets management, artifact management, or container registry technologies.
- Experience designing observability dashboards and operational KPIs for platform environments.
- Experience working in large enterprise or multinational environments.
