Lead QA Automation Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As the QA Lead, you will be responsible for leading our efforts to enhance software quality and reduce the dependency on manual testing. You will drive the strategic increase in test automation, foster a culture of quality within cross-functional teams, and ensure our software meets the highest standards of reliability and performance. Your role will be pivotal in minimizing defects, speeding up defect resolution, and making our complex codebase more manageable and robust.

You will guide the quality assurance function with a focus on automation and best practices, ensuring that our software upgrades are delivered with minimal crashes and defects. This role aims to decrease the escaped defect rate, increase strategic code coverage, and enable efficient defect resolution. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed a quality-first mindset, implement automated tests that reflect product knowledge, and adopt Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices to simulate complex configurations and environmental variability

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive customer facing quality metrics and internal quality metrics definition and tracking
• Work with the teams to improve said metrics
• Identify most impactful test strategies, tools, processes
• As an individual contributor:
• Spend 50%+ of your time implementing automation tests of all sorts (E2E, Integrated, Unit, UI)
• Design and implement test harnesses and tools that can be leveraged by other teams so that they can implement automation faster and with better results

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

• Must:
  • UI automation of Web, WinForms, and WCF
  • Virtualized desktop environment (VMs and Citrix)
  • API, E2E, and integrated test automation
• Have worked with large .NET 4.x framework codebases
• Have experience with complex, hard to test codebases
• Be able to apply different strategies to improve quality
• Be familiar with automation at scale
• Have used BDD tools such as SpecFlow/Reqnroll and Gherkin (or similar) at scale
• Be familiar Tools, processes, and best practices for : 
• Be able and willing to personally implement automation at scale
• Be able to coach and train other teams on best practices
• Desired:
• Have worked with server-side code, Rest and WCF
• Have experience with fat client WinForms and WCF
• While this role is based in Superior, Colorado, we're open to exploring remote possibilities for qualified candidates. 

This role has a base annual salary of $120,000-$140,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package. (Salary to be determined by relevant experience, location, knowledge, and skills of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
