Qualcomm is currently seeking highly experienced candidates with a background in CPU design and Instruction Set architectures (ISA) for our RISC-V Standards and Industry Organizations team.
This person will have a senior role in the Qualcomm Standards and Industry Organization team, and work on our RISC-V strategy. The person should have strong expertise in computer architecture, CPU design and prior exposure to the RISC-V ISA/architecture. Ideal candidates will have a background in CPU design and verification. The candidate should be familiar with multiple products in the computing industry. In particular, it is useful for the candidate to understand the technical and business aspects of the computing industry including mobile, server, desktop, microcontrollers, automotive, etc.
Candidates will be expected to have demonstrated leadership experience working with a variety of organizations like R&D, product development, and business groups to ensure that standardization needs of the company are served well. The successful candidate will provide inputs and exert influence at various decision-making avenues such as program reviews, product/research councils and decision gates. Candidates should come equipped with extensive industry experience and connections in the standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.OR
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 12+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
• 4+ years of experience with architecture and design tools.
• 4+ years of experience with scripting tools and programming languages.
• 4+ years of experience with design verification methods.
• 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leverages expert ASIC knowledge and experience to define, model, design (digital and/or analog), optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP (block/SoC) development for a variety of high performance, high quality, low power products.
• Creates highly advanced architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and/or system simulations based on system-level requirements.
• Collaborates with high-level representatives across functional teams (e.g., software architecture, hardware architecture, product management, program management teams) to develop and execute an implementation strategy that meets system requirements and customer needs.
• Serves as an expert resource for all aspects of the process flow from high-level design to synthesis, place and route, timing and power use, and verification or similarly for custom circuit design/layout flow.
• Utilizes tools/applications (e.g., RTL to GDS Flow, Virtuoso) to execute and enable highly advanced architecture and design of multiple complex blocks/SoC or IC Packages; provides technical expertise and support to team members.
• Writes detailed technical documentation for highly complex EDA/IP/ASIC projects; reviews technical documentation for experienced engineers.
Level of Responsibility:
• Provides supervision to direct reports.
• Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.
• Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that will have substantial impact over the organization).
• Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$192,000.00 - $288,000.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
