General Summary:

Qualcomm's Central Hardware Systems Team is responsible for designing package and system solutions for various Qualcomm chipsets. This position is within the CHS-Automation team. The CHSA Team develops tools, flows, and methodologies to address different aspects of Package design. We are looking for a highly motivated EDA engineer with experience in IC/IC Packaging/PCB software tools, and design flows to support or enhance the team's functions through pathfinding/road mapping, scripting, and automating design methodologies. The ideal candidate should possess a can-do mentality and leverage creative problem solving to improve the package and systems design process. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring bug-free software design tools and environments for smooth and successful package design tape outs.

Job Description:

  • Develop tools and methodology to accelerate Package and System Design and Verification processes.

  • Automate flows to enable Engineers to perform early prototyping, design, and verification.

  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring bug-free software design tools and environments for smooth and successful package design tape-outs.

  • Responsibilities include researching and developing Machine Learning approaches to problems in the EDA and circuit design, as well as designing, implementing, verifying, and maintaining software to address those markets.

  • When issues arise, the candidate will work with external software vendors or investigate internally on appropriate issue resolution.

  • Interface with EDA vendors for driving known tool issues & enhancement requests to closure.

  • Work in collaboration with the rest of the team to ensure optimal integration inside the overall CAD platform.

  • Come-up with innovative solutions to ever-increasing design challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 2+ years’ experience with scripting tools such as Perl/Python/Shell.

  • 2+ years’ experience with EDA (electronic design automation) tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys, Siemens, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Electrical Engineering/Computer Science with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of Package/PCB design flows, design methods, design tools

  • Experience in supporting Cadence SIP/APD, Siemens Xpedition or other Package Design, Electrical or Thermal modeling EDA tools preferred.

  • Writing scripts in: SKILL/RAVEL, Tcl/Tk, VB, PERL, Python, Java, C# in a production environment, Proficient with Unix/Linux OS, utilities, and scripting

  • Exposure to deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch.

  • Experience with version control systems.

  • Leadership skills to help direct, prioritize, and clearly set project tasks per schedule.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Applications Engineering or Hardware Design experience or related work experience.
