General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Apigee API Gateway Specialist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our API infrastructure using Apigee, including Apigee Hybrid. The role also involves integration with AWS services, EKS, and a focus on OpenAPI Spec. Automation of deployment processes and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines will be crucial aspects of this position. As a Senior Staff member, you will demonstrate an elevated level of expertise, taking on additional leadership, strategic, and technical responsibilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage API solutions using Apigee API Gateway, including Apigee Hybrid deployment models.
Collaborate with software developers, architects, and other stakeholders to define API specifications and requirements, adhering to OpenAPI Spec standards.
Configure and optimize Apigee policies, proxies, and extensions for optimal performance.
Integrate Apigee with AWS services and manage API gateways within an EKS environment.
Implement automation for deployment processes and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient API lifecycle management.
Ensure the security of APIs by implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms.
Monitor and troubleshoot API gateway performance issues, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in API management and security.
Ability to work with global team across different timezones and cultures
Prior knowledge in mentoring and leading a small team of technical experts in the relevant technical areas

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing API solutions with Apigee API Gateway, including experience with Apigee Hybrid.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices, with a focus on adhering to OpenAPI Spec standards.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for automation tasks.
Experience with API security protocols and standards (OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS).
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
Hands-on experience with AWS services and integrating Apigee within an AWS environment.
Demonstrated expertise in automating deployment processes and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of IT-relevant work experience with Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems).
OR
7+ years of IT-relevant work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

• 4+ years of work experience with Full-stack Application Development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.).
• 3+ years of work experience with Data Structures, algorithms, and data stores.
