The Application Support Engineer Role

 

An Application Support Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software applications that meet the specific needs of an organization or client. This role combines technical expertise with an understanding of business and user needs to create effective and efficient software solutions. Application Support Engineers work closely with software developers, systems analysts, and other IT professionals to ensure that software applications are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. We are hiring for the Application Support Engineer role to enhance our software development and support capabilities. The focus of this role is on managing, supporting, and implementing software applications, ensuring their smooth operation, and addressing user needs efficiently. The Application Support Engineer will tackle challenges such as integrating applications with existing systems, maintaining application performance, and resolving technical issues promptly.

Here’s how you’ll be making an impact:

 

Application Management: Manage, support, and implement software applications based on user requirements and technical specifications. Collaborate with software developers and third-party managed services to integrate applications with existing systems and platforms.

Application Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime. Monitor application performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions promptly. Assist in the deployment and configuration of new applications and updates.

Requirement Analysis: Work with stakeholders to gather and analyze user requirements, translating them into technical specifications. Conduct feasibility studies and provide recommendations for software solutions that meet business needs.

Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and installation guides. Provide training and support to end-users and other IT professionals on the use and maintenance of applications.
 

We’re looking for a teammate with:

 

  • Outstanding communication skills, a strong aptitude for logical problem-solving, and the capacity to function well in a group setting.
  • A strong grasp of application system architectures and enjoyment in working on production support issues.
  • Self-motivation and goal orientation with experience in system administration and configuration.
  • 2+ years of relevant technical support experience, technology architecture experience, or equivalent.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or a similar discipline is preferred.
