🌍 About Qatium

Qatium is the AI Water Platform for utility operations. We help utilities visualise their networks, simulate decisions, and optimise performance β€” tackling one of the world’s most urgent challenges: up to 50% of clean water is lost before it reaches the tap.

By bringing network data, modelling and operational insights into an intuitive digital environment, Qatium helps more people across a utility understand what is happening in their network and make better-informed decisions.

Today, Qatium works with utilities across 17 countries and 6 continents, helping water teams at different levels of digital maturity improve how they understand and manage their networks. πŸ’§

🧩 The Role

We're looking for a full-stack engineer who enjoys building great products, solving complex technical challenges, and taking ownership of solutions from idea to production.

You'll work across frontend and backend systems, designing and delivering reliable, scalable, and secure features that create meaningful value for our customers.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, makes thoughtful technical decisions, and is comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving work independently.

πŸš€ What You'll Do

End-to-End Product Development

Design, build, deploy, and maintain customer-facing features across the full stack, taking ownership from technical design through production.

Backend Engineering & Architecture

Build and evolve backend services, APIs, and integrations, making pragmatic technical decisions that improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Engineering Quality & Security

Deliver secure, well-tested, production-ready software, proactively identifying risks, improving existing solutions, and ensuring long-term quality.

Product Thinking & Problem-Solving

Collaborate with Product and Design to understand customer needs, challenge assumptions, and turn complex problems into simple, effective solutions.

Continuous Improvement & AI-Assisted Development

Improve engineering practices through collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing, leveraging AI-powered tools to accelerate development while maintaining high standards of quality and security.

πŸ’‘ What We're Looking For

Core requirements

  • Full-stack engineering experience: Proven experience building and delivering production web applications, with the ability to work confidently across frontend and backend systems.

  • Modern frontend development: Strong knowledge of TypeScript and experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue.js, or equivalent.

  • Backend development: Solid experience with at least one backend language, such as Python, Go, or Node.js, including API design and relational databases.

  • Production engineering: Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, containers, deployment workflows, and application monitoring.

  • Ownership & autonomy: A track record of independently delivering features or solving complex technical challenges, even when requirements are not fully defined.

  • Engineering judgement: Ability to balance speed, simplicity, security, performance, and long-term maintainability.

  • Product mindset: Genuine interest in understanding user problems and delivering solutions that create real customer value.

  • English proficiency: Strong written and spoken English, comfortable working in an international team.

It's a plus if you have

  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, or GitOps.

  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as NATS, Kafka, or Pub/Sub.

  • Experience with authentication and authorisation technologies, including SSO, SAML, or secrets management.

  • Background in data-intensive applications, IoT, digital infrastructure, or water utilities.

🌱 Why Qatium?

At Qatium, you'll work on technology that addresses a real-world challenge: making water management smarter and more efficient.

You'll be part of a small, collaborative team where your ideas matter, your contributions have a direct impact on the product, and autonomy is part of how we work. You'll also have access to learning budgets, language-learning platforms, and flexible compensation options.

Above all, we value curiosity, diverse perspectives, and people who enjoy building meaningful things together πŸ’§
