Job Description & Summary

Software Development Manager (SDM) role is essential to maintain technical alignment, delivery predictability, and risk control across large multi-tower squads in complex and large projects like CBD & ICAP, with over 30 engineers working on mobile, backend and QA streams, this role ensures every technical decision from architecture to release is cohesive, compliant, and performance driven.
It bridges the gap between engineering depth and delivery governance, translating architectural vision into reliable, production-grade releases, Similar roles exist across global delivery centers in top firms, for ETIC, it’s a proven enabler of quality, speed, and cross-team cohesion critical for executing large digital banking transformations with confidence.

1. Technical Responsibilities:

Architecture:

  • Own the Solution Blueprint across Mobile apps, microservices, APIs, data flows, test strategy, observability.
  • Maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and enforce design guardrails (domain boundaries, API contracts, event schemas).
  • Drive NFRs (performance, availability, security, privacy, compliance) and ensure they’re designed, implemented, and tested.

API & contract governance

  • Run API review board (versioning, backward compatibility, error models, timeouts/retries, idempotency).
  • Approve breaking changes and manage deprecation timelines.

Engineering standards

  • Own branching model, CI/CD policy, code quality thresholds, static analysis, unit/integration test minimums, coverage gates.
  • Standardize logging, tracing, metrics, and feature flags strategy across stacks.

Security & compliance by design

  • Embed OWASP MASVS/ASVS, secure coding, secrets policy, PII minimization, encryption in transit/at rest.
  • Ensure SDLC controls: peer reviews, SBOM, dependency scanning, vulnerability triage, secure builds, artifact signing.

Production readiness

  • Own Go-Live Checklist: runbooks, on-call rotations, monitoring dashboards, rollback plans, rate-limit and kill-switches.
  • Chair Change Advisory technical review for releases.

2. Delivery Orchestration

  • Cross-tower dependency mgmt.: Maintain Technical Dependency Matrix (APIs, environments, test data, certificates, mobile SDKs).
  • Integrated planning: Create the Integrated Technical Plan (feature cutlines, capacity by stream, critical path, buffers).
  • Issue unblocking: Daily removal of technical blockers; escalate swiftly with evidence.

3. Communication & Decisioning

  • Single technical voice to Project Director, SoS, client architects.
  • Publish weekly Technical Status: risks, decisions, SLOs, defect heatmap, velocity vs. plan.

4. People & Resourcing

  • Calibrate skill-to-work mapping; propose ramp plans, pairing/mentoring, and targeted tech spikes.
  • Align with Tower leads on hiring/rotation based on risk/throughput.
