In data architecture at PwC, you will focus on designing and implementing the structure and organisation of data assets within the organisation. Your work will involve developing data models, defining data standards, and establishing data integration frameworks. You will assist in confirming that data is stored, accessed, and utilised efficiently, enabling seamless data flow across systems and supporting effective data management practices.

PwC ETIC is seeking a seasoned Data Architect with extensive experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level data platforms. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on working with hyperscale platforms. You will be responsible for defining, creating, and overseeing scalable data architectures that enable organizations to leverage data for strategic business initiatives. A strong background in working with cloud hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture Design:

  • Lead the design and development of scalable and flexible data architectures to meet complex business requirements across various platforms and environments.

  • Create comprehensive data models, data flow diagrams, and data integration architectures to support both transactional and analytical systems.

  • Ensure that data architectures are designed to handle both structured and unstructured data, while considering performance, scalability, and security.

Cloud Data Platforms:

  • Design and implement data platforms ensuring seamless integration with existing on-premise or cloud environments.

  • Architect end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics, using modern cloud data technologies.

  • Collaborate with cloud engineering and DevOps teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize cloud-based data solutions.

Data Governance & Security:

  • Ensure that data governance practices are integrated into the architecture, covering data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and regulatory compliance.

  • Implement best practices for data security, ensuring that all data architectures comply with relevant data privacy laws and standards (GDPR, CCPA).

  • Work with security teams to embed data security measures within cloud platforms and on-premise systems, ensuring data encryption and secure access control.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, presenting architecture strategies, roadmaps, and solutions to solve complex business challenges.

  • Work cross-functionally with IT, cloud engineers, and development teams to ensure alignment on data architecture initiatives and their implementation.

Technology Leadership:

  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks in the data architecture space, ensuring that the company remains at the cutting edge of data management and analytics.

  • Mentor and guide junior architects and data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Stay up to date of industry trends in data architecture, big data, cloud data platforms, and related technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in data architecture and implementation of enterprise data platforms.

    • Good experience working with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

    • Proven track record of designing and implementing cloud-native data platforms, including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in cloud data technologies (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, Databricks).

    • Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration (ETL/ELT).

    • In-depth knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance frameworks.

    • Proficiency in working with big data tools and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to influence stakeholders and present complex ideas clearly.

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment.
