We are hiring a Senior Front-End React Software Engineer to lead the development of innovative and scalable products using the Looker Extension Framework. You will play a critical role in enhancing our data analytics capabilities by building customized, high-performance user interfaces that enable deeper insights and seamless experiences.
As we continue to expand our data platform offerings, we need a seasoned engineer who can bring expertise in React development and collaborate effectively across teams to drive impactful product solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our analytics tools and delivering value to our clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the product while building one of the most important products for the company.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Product Development in Looker Extension Framework
- Lead the architectural design and development of front-end applications and extensions using React within the Looker Extension Framework.
- Ensure seamless integration with Looker's APIs and data sources, optimizing for performance and scalability.
- Technical Leadership and Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Influence best practices, code quality, and architectural decisions for front-end development.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, product managers, and backend engineers, to deliver high-quality products.
- Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, refine user stories, and deliver tailored solutions.
- Front-End Performance Optimization
- Drive performance improvements across web applications, ensuring fast load times, efficient rendering, and smooth user experiences.
- Implement strategies to monitor, test, and improve the performance of React components.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to React and front-end development.
- Explore new approaches, frameworks, and technologies to continuously improve development processes and deliver cutting-edge products.
- Quality Assurance and Testing
- Own the front-end build and deployment processes, ensuring efficient and error-free releases
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Location: Anywhere in the world except the U.S.
- Hours:
- Central European Time 9am-5pm CET or East Coast U.S. time 9am-5pm EST
- Either of the above two options will work; however for the first quarter it will be important to work CET hours
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Javascript expert with extensive knowledge and expertise in modern JS frameworks
- Experience in greenfield and brownfield web apps
- 5+ years of experience in web or mobile app development
- Fluent English
- Good communicator and team player
- Self-driven and proactive
- Stay up to date with current go-to production-ready web tech stack
- Exposure to design patterns and application architecture
- Tech stack: React, Node.js + express, JS ES6+, Redux + Toolkit, Typescript, Webpack, Docker
- Software: Familiarity with Postman, Figma, GCP or similar cloud platform, yarn and npm
NICE TO HAVE’S:
- Previous experience with any BI tool (preferably Looker)
- Ability to work with custom webpack configs
- Familiarity with iFrame behavior and its quirks
- Google Cloud Platform familiarity
- Python experience
- Familiarity with Deno
- Experience with Websockets protocol

- Initial Phone Screen (30 mins)
- FE Developer Interview (60 mins): React and software engineering interview and test
- BI Lead (45 mins): relevant experience and soft skills
- BI Team Interview (45 mins): Team fit
RED FLAGS FOR US:
Candidates won’t succeed here if they’ve only worked with companies with small development/delivery teams (less than 5 people) or unestablished software houses that had been less than 5 years on the market).
Candidates won't thrive in this role also if they lack the initiative to independently develop React applications or lack the understanding of how the end-user interacts with an application. We're seeking individuals who can proactively tackle React projects, demonstrating the ability to innovate and problem-solve without constant guidance.
