Principal Technical Services Engineer

Technical Services Engineer, Onshape

We are looking for an energetic, highly-skilled candidate to join the Onshape Technical Services team.

This exciting cross-functional role will work closely with our pre-sales, post-sales, and training teams. Day-to-day responsibilities will vary and rotate between delivering software demonstrations to prospective clients, onboarding and supporting current clients, and developing and delivering training content and assets for a variety of uses. 

All aspects of this client-facing role require a strong working knowledge in engineering processes and applications, as well as the ability to internalize and convey our product differentiators effectively. This individual will play an important role in driving the adoption and growth of a new product design platform at both large and small companies.

Day To Day:
General:
Become an expert in our product
Work with the development team to convey feature requests from customers/prospects to support the product roadmap
Continuously learn and develop new skills  - the product evolves rapidly!

Pre-Sales:
Work closely with our sales team giving product demonstrations 
Serve as a product expert assisting in answering questions from customers/prospects
Create & curate new demo models and scripts, as required

Post-Sales:
Work closely with our Customer Success team to understand customer’s needs
Establish yourself as a trusted advisor for the customer
Serve as a product expert assisting in answering questions from customers 
Work with our product support team to understand details of technical issues and file bug reports (if/when required). Derive work-arounds as needed to keep the customer working effectively.

Training & Content Development:
Create product-related technical content to support our customers. These include:
Writing technical blog posts
Authoring whitepapers & technical documentation
Creating and Delivering Webinars or other streamed web content
Delivering LIVE training for our customers 
Creating technical video content and learning resources (ex: our self-paced learning courses) 
Author training video scripts
Create demo models as required
Record and produce high-quality videos from start to finish

Required Skills and Knowledge:
Experience with engineering CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar)
Experience using a PDM and/or PLM tool (SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, Inventor Vault, Teamcenter or similar)
Experience & comfort in a client-facing role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:
The location of this position is remote - but ability to work & support our clients in Pacific Timezone hours is preferred.
Experience with web-based apps and SaaS is a plus
Experience implementing enterprise software solutions is a plus
Presentation experience (particularly to large audiences) is a plus
Experience with recording & video editing software is a plus.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
Minimum 3-5 years working in an engineering role or role working for an engineering software company
 

PTC carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, which may include the background and experience of all applicants, which can cause your compensation to vary. PTC anticipates the salary range for this position to be between 115,000-130,000.  The actual pay may be lower or higher depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
