PsiQuantum is uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of quantum computing years earlier than our competitors. Our architecture is based on photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components using existing high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are today producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. Since photons don’t feel heat, we can take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems, the kind that have been operating at facilities like the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC).  And because photons are in fact light, they can move between subsystems at tremendous speed using standard fiber connectivity.

Our team is building a utility scale quantum computer and the software tools needed to build fault tolerant quantum applications. We’re a highly motivated and collaborative group focused on a singular goal - building the world’s first useful quantum computer on the fastest path possible.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Superconducting Devices Group. Our group designs, fabricates, and tests components that will be integrated into a complete system. The Senior R&D Engineer, Process, will be focused on fabrication at our partner fabs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop processes in lithography, etch, thin film deposition, metallization, clean, and CMP.
• Be the primary point of contact between Psiquantum and the external fabrication facility.
• Conduct data analysis and document the work for clear communication. Prepare informative presentations to keep stakeholders updated.
• Drive the development and implementation of integrated processes, incorporating input from both Psiquantum and the external fab.
• Provide hands-on support in the fabrication facility as needed.
• Coordinate timely resolution of process challenges in the fab.
• Focus on maximizing weekly wafer output and shipment by streamlining processes.
• Verify equipment start up & equipment qualification.
• Work with external fab to improve number of turns and increase output (cycle time reductions, steps simplifications, combine processes, yield improvements, improve variability & uniformity).
• Actively track wafers in progress and report on their status.
• Coordinate with the fab team to swiftly address and resolve any processing challenges that may arise.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Sc., or Ph.D in Physical Sciences or Engineering.
• 6+ year of R&D experience with process development with emphasis on process integration. For instance, development of a new process flows, integration of new modules in a process flow, or optimization of a process flow.
• Proficient with JMP or similar data analysis tool.
• Effective communication and detailed documentation.
