The Cloud Operations Engineer focuses on designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure and tools to support Prophix Cloud services. As a member of the Prophix Cloud Operations team, you will work closely with Product Planning, DevOps, IT, and Information Security to ensure the Prophix Cloud infrastructure is scalable, reliable, secure, and supportable. You’ll help meet workload demands, service level commitments (SLO, SLA), and information security compliance standards.

The ideal candidate is passionate about cloud architecture, has excellent knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code patterns, and champions cloud best practices and reliability. Prophix offers flexible work arrangements, including remote, hybrid, and in-office options.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and implement cloud infrastructure solutions, including prototyping, building reference architectures, testing, and maintenance.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code and custom tools to automate cloud resource deployments, system configurations, and maintenance tasks.
• Partner with DevOps and other operational teams to improve tools and processes for managing cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor and maintain global production, sandbox, demonstration, training, and testing infrastructures, adhering to change management protocols.
• Test and deploy scheduled and emergency patches and updates for cloud product releases.
• Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation to ensure high availability of cloud infrastructure, responding to outages per standard operating procedures.
• Act as an escalation point for production cloud issues and develop runbooks for support.
• Collaborate with the Cloud Operations team to develop, implement, and monitor incident response functions.

What You Will Bring

To succeed in this role, you will need a combination of experience, technology skills, personal qualities, and education.

Required Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related development experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience managing AWS production workloads with expertise in EC2, AMI, S3, EBS, RDS, SQS, Lambda, Route53, ALB/ELB, SSM, and VPC.
• At least 3 years of experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef.
• Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and Bash for Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with AWS security services, including WAF, Detective, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Secrets Manager, Config, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch.
• Proficiency with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools like Datadog, Sensu, or Grafana.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, NoSQL, OLAP).
• Familiarity with version control systems such as TFS or GIT.
•  Must be legally entitled to work in the country where the role is located. Must be able to travel to the United States, Canada and/or internationally, and have a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS certification at the Associate or Professional level.
• Familiarity with compliance requirements for SOC2, ISAE 3402, or ISO 27001.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to determine root causes.
• Team player mentality with a strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to take on-call duties and emergency shift work as required.
