The Role:

The Salesforce Developer is responsible for the hands-on design, development, and delivery of high-quality solutions across Propel Holdings UK's Salesforce platform. Working under the guidance of the Lead Salesforce Developer, the role exists to translate business requirements into clean, scalable, and well-documented code, contributing meaningfully to the team's output while continuing to grow in technical depth and independence.

This is a development role with real ownership. The Salesforce Developer is expected to work autonomously on assigned tasks, uphold coding standards, support testing and deployment activities, and collaborate closely with the whole delivery team to ensure solutions are fit for purpose in a regulated financial environment.

In short, the Salesforce Developer is a capable and motivated practitioner who delivers quality work, asks the right questions, and is actively developing towards senior-level expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solution Development: Design and develop custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and declarative tools including Flows, validation rules, and custom objects, working to standards set by the Lead Developer.
  • Integration & API Work: Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and third-party systems using REST/SOAP APIs and Platform Events, with support from the Lead Developer for more complex integration patterns.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code, maintaining strong test coverage and adhering to development best practices across all deliverables.
  • Deployment & Version Control: Support CI/CD processes and deployment activities using GitHub and Gearset, following established release management procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Investigate and resolve bugs, technical issues, and performance problems in a timely manner, escalating appropriately where needed.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Salesforce Administrator/Business Analyst and Lead Developer to understand requirements, ask the right questions, and propose practical technical approaches.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of the codebase and platform over time, flagging technical debt and suggesting enhancements that improve maintainability, performance, or user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Support QA and UAT activities by working alongside the quality assurance team to resolve defects and validate solutions ahead of release.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation for your work and contribute to shared knowledge resources within the team.

Skills and Attributes required:

Essential:

  • 2–4 years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, with solid proficiency in Apex, LWC, and declarative development tools.
  • Good working knowledge of Salesforce platform architecture, object model, security model, and governor limits.
  • Experience building or maintaining Salesforce automations including Flows, Process Builder, and validation rules.
  • Familiarity with REST or SOAP API integrations and an understanding of how Salesforce connects with external systems.
  • Experience working with source control tools, preferably GitHub, and an understanding of CI/CD principles.
  • Comfortable working within Agile delivery teams, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Strong attention to detail, a commitment to writing testable and well-documented code, and a genuine passion for continuous learning.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I certification, or actively working towards it.

Desirable:

  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification or other Salesforce certifications.
  • Experience with Experience Cloud or developing customer-facing Salesforce portals.
  • Exposure to Mulesoft or other middleware and integration platforms.
  • Experience working in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Gearset or similar deployment tooling for Salesforce.
