The Role

Proofpoint is looking for a Software Engineer III to join our Algo & MLOps team. In this role, you will drive the implementation and adoption of critical services and infrastructure supporting the models powering our email threat detection engine which protects some of the world’s largest enterprises.

You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, MLOps and Backend Engineers and contribute to major initiatives building and supporting our ML services, infrastructure and workflows. You'll be surrounded by incredibly smart, talented and friendly colleagues. Engineers at Tessian love to learn from each other and pull together as a team to succeed.

Your day-to-day

• Develop, deploy and maintain highly scalable and low-latency applications and infrastructure using Python and Terraform on AWS cloud

• Build and maintain batch and real-time pipelines capable of processing complex structured and unstructured data using technologies such as Spark, Apache Airflow.

• Contribute to the implementation and adoption of ML infrastructure with AWS SageMaker.

• Tackle the challenges that come with processing highly sensitive data.

• Build software with security in mind

• Act as a mentor to team members, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team

What you bring to the team

• Proven experience building distributed systems, infrastructure, and other high-scale applications in a managed cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCP)

• Extensive Python expertise; experience developing and deploying production-grade software using Async IO

• Hands-on experience with at least one Infrastructure-As-Code framework

• Thorough understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices and general software development principles

• Experience working as part of a fast-moving team with focus on delivering value 

• Product mindset, capable of not only delivering impact within their team but also elevating the wider engineering organisation

Nice to have

• Experience creating and optimizing high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines using a Big Data processing engine such as DataBricks Workflows, Spark, Flink, Dask or similar

• Experience building software and/or data pipelines in the AWS cloud (SageMaker Endpoints, ECS/EKS, EMR, Glue)
