Sr. Dev Ops Engineer

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for working on the migration of two technology stacks from Azure to AWS, requiring a high level of proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps. The ideal candidate will develop a self-service structure to enable developers to securely access cloud resources, enhancing our overall operational efficiency, and maintain it.

Detailed Job Duties: (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks which support the primary objectives)

• Migrate two independent tech stacks (Azure & AWS) to our existing AWS infrastructure using IaaC.
• Proficiently manage and maintain our cloud infrastructure using IaC and GitOps principles.
• Develop and implement a self-service model for developers to securely access and manage cloud resources.
• Ensure continuous improvement and deployment through robust CI/CD pipelines, potentially using GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Monitor and alert using tools like Datadog and Grafana, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage architectural components including databases (Postgres & MySQL) and message queues (SQS, SNS, Kafka).

What Success in the Role Looks Like:

Success in this role will be defined by the efficient and effective management of cloud infrastructure migrations, the development of a robust self-service platform for developers, and the maintenance of high system reliability through proactive monitoring. Achievements are also marked by the establishment of strong CI/CD pipelines that support rapid and reliable software deployment. Additionally, success is demonstrated through continuous innovation, adherence to security standards, and effective leadership and mentorship within the team.

The MUST Haves: (ex: skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

• Five or more (5+) years of experience in DevOps Engineering.
• Extensive experience with AWS services and management.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux System Administration
• Strong background in Terraform for IaC and GitOps.
• Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD workflows.
• Skills in monitoring and alerting with Datadog and/or Grafana.

The Nice to Haves: (preferred additional skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or computer science is preferred.
• Azure cloud services.
• Familiarity with CloudFlare, EC2, Redshift/BigQuery.
• Experience with Redis/MemCached.
• Knowledge of CloudWatch, Prometheus, ArgoCD.
• Familiarity with Teleport.io or VPN technologies.
• DBA-related skills, including monitoring, backups, and index optimization.
