BANGKOK PLANTJob Description
The Automation Execution Leader provides hands-on technical leadership and execution ownership for Intelligent Controls, Automation and Mechanical Automation systems supporting manufacturing operations at the site. This role combines deep expertise in electrical/control systems with strong mechanical and mechatronic solution ownership, ensuring end-to-end technical accountability for automated equipment — from mechanical design integrity through control logic, networking, and digital integration.
This role is expected to be a subject matter expert who personally drives troubleshooting, design reviews, project delivery, and standards implementation on the shop floor, while supporting the broader site ICA strategy set by Site Engineering and Site ICA leadership.
This role serves as the primary technical solution owner for automation platforms at the site, executing against regional and global technology master plans and collaborating across functions to deliver operational results.
The Automation Execution Leader reports to Site Automation Leadership, with Workday dotted-line responsibility to the Site ICA Leader (Intelligence Control & Automation)
Responsibilities
Electrical, Automation, Control & Mechanical System Execution & Ownership
Execute and maintain ICA technology platforms across the site
Hands-on ownership of the mechanical-automation interface — robotics, AGVs, motion systems, conveyors, servo-driven mechanisms, pneumatics, and end-of-arm tooling — including direct involvement in troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization.
Ensure technical compliance with Global Electrical Specification, Electrical Safety, Machine Safety, and Mechanical Design standards.
ICA & Automation Masterplan Execution
Execute the integrated ICA + Automation Solutions Masterplan, covering physical automation (make/pack/ship, robotics, AGVs, mechatronic systems) and digital automation (data interfaces, analytics, integration layers).
Implement obsolescence mitigation projects for control systems, electrical hardware, and mechanical automation assets (drives, actuators, robotic cells, vision-guided mechanisms).
Technical Leadership (ICA + Mechatronic Solution Ownership)
Act as the lead technical solution owner for automation projects, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines are integrated by design.
Ensure ICA projects follow ICA Engineering Work Processes (EWP); personally review designs, code, and mechanical integrations.
Capital and Operating Expense Budget Execution
Provide technical scope and cost estimates to ensure Site/BU capital plans reflect ICA + Automation Masterplan priorities — obsolescence, modernization, robotics renewal, and digital enablement.
Coordinate with Dept. ICA leaders and Site Digital Leader on expense budgets covering OEM contracts, cyber support, and network/mechanical maintenance.
Identify funding requirements for tools, training, and external technical support.
Job Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering (preferred), or equivalent combination of Mechanical + Electrical/Control Engineering disciplines with relevant professional experience.
Strong Technical Mastery (Hands-On Required):
Deep, hands-on proficiency in mechatronic systems — integration of mechanical design, electrical control, sensors, actuators, and embedded/PLC-based control.
Demonstrated technical execution with ICA technologies: Continuous & Batch Process Control, Instruments, ControlLogix PLCs, Wonderware, Motion Control, Vision Systems, Servo Drives, Robotics, AGVs, Networks, Sensors, Servers/Virtualization.
Practical knowledge of mechanical automation design — kinematics, pneumatics/hydraulics, conveyors, robotic cells, end-of-arm tooling, and machine dynamics.
Proficiency with programming standards such as OPERA, PackML, Universal Pack, and A3M systems — able to review
Execution & Leadership: Proven ability to personally execute technical work while coaching engineers and technicians (electrical, controls, mechanical/robotics); conduct effective 1:1s; work effectively in a matrixed organization.
Project Execution & Startup: Demonstrated experience executing ICA + automation project start-ups, directing internal/external resources on the shop floor.
Discipline & Safety: Role model for electrical and machine safety; rigorous in standards adherence.
Language: Fluent in English.
