As a Data Scientist for the Payments Operations (PayOps) team, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our payments ecosystem and driving our monetization strategy forward. Embedded within a cross-functional squad, you’ll collaborate closely with product managers, tech leads, designers, and other key stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that shape business decisions. Your work will focus on analyzing and improving payment workflows, including checkouts, pay-ins, and payouts, to ensure a seamless experience for our students and tutors alike.

What you’ll be doing:  

• Analyze data related to payment processes, including pay-ins and payouts, to uncover insights and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Monitor transaction performance to detect and troubleshoot anomalies in payment flows (e.g., failed transactions, latency issues, fraud patterns).
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and finance teams to improve payment flows, reduce transaction failures, and optimize processing times.
• Provide payment performance deep-dives per region to detect optimizations / opportunities.
• Conduct A/B tests analysis to evaluate the impact of changes in payment flows.
• Provide actionable insights to reduce costs, increase payment success rates, and improve user satisfaction with payment-related services.
• Identify trends and opportunities, providing actionable insights to support team initiatives.
• Stay updated on industry trends, payment technologies, and competitive practices to inform strategic decisions.

What you need to succeed:

• At least 3-5 years' experience in Data Science/Analysis, focusing on data analytics for product or payment teams.
• Previous experience in fast-paced Technology, ideally in payments, e-commerce or the fintech space. 
• Proven ability to work with product teams, run A/B tests, and identify product and payment optimization opportunities.
• Strong background in quantitative fields (e.g., statistics, mathematics).
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
• An outcome-driven approach with a passion for problem-solving and exploring new ideas.
• A creative mindset with a proactive attitude, along with stakeholder management and influencing skills;
• Ability to create clear, insightful reports and dashboards.
• Fluency in English and eager to work on a global product with a multicultural team.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with payment gateways, transaction processing, digital wallet systems and PSD2 or regional regulations.
• Experience with Looker, Amplitude, Snowflake.
• Experience with advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics or machine learning.
• Experience in digital businesses and checkout steps (B2B, B2C, B2B2C).
