Job Purpose (Significance of the Role & Objectives)
As a Battery Pack Design Engineer, you will be responsible for solving complex challenges across structural, electrical, and thermal domains. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing battery components and assemblies for production, testing, and proof-of-concept (POC) applications. You will drive innovation and safety in the development of high-voltage (HV) battery systems and play a key role in shaping product direction. Additionally, you will lead the design and execution of battery testing to evaluate new materials and design concepts, ensuring Pravaig remains at the forefront of battery technology.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Design the structural, electrical, and thermal aspects of high-voltage (HV) battery systems.
- Develop advanced lithium-ion energy storage solutions for next-generation vehicle programs.
- Contribute throughout the product lifecycle—from concept and detailed design to validation, release, and post-launch support.
- Prepare and present design concepts for internal and cross-functional reviews, delivering complete 3D models, technical drawings, and part specifications.
- Apply strong analytical skills to battery module and pack design, including material selection, characterization, and performance evaluation.
- Execute end-to-end development of assigned battery pack components, ensuring production readiness.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and cross-functional teams to integrate HV components effectively.
- Perform engineering analyses to evaluate the impact of design decisions on performance, safety, durability, and reliability.
Desired Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience in battery design and development; proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and CATIA.
- Expertise in designing for manufacturing processes like injection molding, extrusion (plastic/aluminum), stamping, die-casting, sheet-metal fabrication, and welding.
- Proficiency in DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DFA methodologies.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with materials used in battery packaging and EV component development.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
- Awareness of automotive standards, safety norms, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Ability to thrive and remain composed in fast-paced, evolving project environments.
