Software Development Engineer( Backend) - Intern

What you'll do

• Design and build backend services and REST APIs using Node.js
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries and database schemas
• Own features from design through deployment, including monitoring in production
• Deploy and manage services on AWS
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to define clean API contracts
• Write unit and integration tests, and participate actively in code reviews
• Debug and resolve production issues as part of an on-call rotation

What we're looking for

• 1–2 years of professional coding experience
• Strong fundamentals in data structures and object-oriented programming
• Proficiency in Node.js/JavaScript or TypeScript, Python or Java/Kotlin
• Solid SQL skills — comfortable writing joins, aggregations, and reasoning about schema design
• Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS)
• Demonstrated coding ability through past projects, internships, or coursework
• Understanding of REST API design principles
• Ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code and take feedback well in code review

Nice to have

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to microservices or event-driven architecture
• Familiarity with React or another frontend framework
• Experience with NoSQL databases alongside SQL
