About the Role

As Head of Engineering at Poesis, you'll have the opportunity to define the technical foundation of an AI-native investment manager from the ground up. Working alongside the CEO, Chief Scientist and an exceptional technical team, you'll take a hands-on role in solving complex engineering challenges at the intersection of frontier AI, autonomous agents, large-scale data and quantitative research. You'll lead translating frontier AI research into production systems capable of making real investment decisions while building the engineering organization and technical culture that will power the company's next stage of growth. Challenges You'll Work On

• Designing point-in-time data architectures that preserve historical accuracy, reproducibility and research integrity.

• Designing the infrastructure that enables autonomous agents to collaborate reliably in production.

• Building research platforms that power feature generation, back-testing and model evaluation.

• Reducing the time required to transform new research into production investment capabilities.
  
  

About You

• You’ve worked at a frontier AI lab, agentic startup, high-growth technology company, top investment manager, or similar.

• You've designed shared infrastructure that accelerated research, experimentation and production at scale.

• You enjoy building alongside a small, highly technical team and leading by example.

• You balance long-term architectural thinking with a bias toward shipping and continuous iteration.

• You know how to attract, develop and challenge exceptional engineers while creating a culture of technical rigor and continuous improvement.

• You're comfortable operating with ambiguity, making thoughtful decisions and adapting as new information becomes available.

• You communicate clearly, welcome constructive debate and value evidence over ego.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI platforms, quantitative research infrastructure or production systems for systematic investing, quantitative finance or AI-driven investment research.

• MS/PhD in Computer Science, or related field

Location

For U.S. based roles: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site at our office in Menlo Park, CA. Relocation allowance available.
