Welder/Fabricator
PLP Company (PLP Co.) is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to join our shop team in their Bethel Park, Pennsylvania location.  The candidate will be responsible for working with the shop team to design, build, modify and repair our extensive fleet of roadway striping trucks and equipment. This role supports the daily operation of our equipment repair facility and will produce new and specialized equipment for our striping crews. The ideal candidate will fabricate, repair, and assemble metal components for truck bodies, and should be experienced reading blueprints, operating fabrication machinery, and be proficient with the installation of custom-made parts.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to plan welding procedures.
  • Position, align, and secure metal components before welding.
  • Cut, shape, fit, and weld parts for truck bodies, chassis, and equipment using blueprints or sketches.
  • Operate torches, power supplies, and welding machines to fuse or cut metal.
  • Inspect completed welds for strength, precision, and defects, adjusting as needed.
  • Keep welding equipment, machinery, and work area clean and in good working order.
  • Follow all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure a safe work environment.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency with various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for truck/equipment repair issues.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Prepare, prime, paint, and finish fabricated items.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like welding helmets and heat-resistant gloves
  • Acceptable driving record with no major violations within the past five (5) years and eligibility for coverage under the company’s insurance program.
Education & Preferred Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CDL License preferred but not required.
  • A Welding certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in shop, and field environments.
