Our flagship product, Dash Enterprise, is revolutionizing the way businesses interact with and harness their data. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer to join our App Studio team and contribute to the conversion of Jupyter notebook-based applications into efficient and interactive Dash applications.

 


 

As a Staff level Software Engineer on the App Studio team, you will be responsible for building new innovative products that enable data scientists and data analysts to effortlessly transition from data exploration to production data applications. You will act as a technical and thought leader, bringing a wide range of experience in building sophisticated web applications with deep technical foundations. We are looking for someone who has built world class user interfaces and high performance systems for data science.  

The technologies you will be working with include but may not be limited to: 

  • Python

  • Abstract Syntax Trees and Python Language Services

Core job responsibilities:

  • Educate fellow developers in your technical areas of expertise.
  • Act as the technical expert for a range of web based products and tools.
  • Build world class user interfaces for our new and exciting products.
  • Advise on architectural decision making for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, product managers, and other software engineers to ensure a cohesive and user-friendly experience.
  • Guide integration of new products with existing Plotly enterprise platforms and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance our platform.

Job requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer, with expertise in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
  • Demonstrable track record of success in a technical engineering role, including clear demonstration of contribution and delivery in a product-centric environment of user facing applications.
  • A passion for building user-facing software in the data science and analytics space.
  • Familiarity with data visualization libraries and concepts. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a Remote-first environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment, learn new technologies and platforms, and be comfortable with troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Assets:

  • Experience with computational notebooks like Jupyter, RMarkdown, Observable
  • Experience building tools within the Python data stack like Pandas, Databricks, matplotlib, scipy
  • Experience with GraphQL, NestJS, Kubernetes, CI/Github Actions, Docker
  • Experience with automated code generation
  • Experience with advanced Python language functionality such as parsing and syntax analysis
